Meet Bharat D. Shah, MD
I chose to specialize in maternal-fetal medicine because of a very personal experience. While I was in medical school, a close family member was pregnant with twins and having problems. She ended up losing them and I felt so frustrated that I was unable to help her, because I hadn’t yet completed my training. I decided then that I would do everything possible to help women who were going through difficult pregnancies. Seeing a mother who has been through a stressful pregnancy finally hold her baby in her arms is a powerful, emotional experience. Knowing that I’ve played a part in that is immeasurably satisfying and why I still love what I do, every day.
After years of working in a private perinatology practice in Southern California, I am so pleased to join the High Risk Pregnancy Center. The doctors have not just expert credentials but a positive energy I admire and value. We have a shared philosophy of patient care as well. I listen carefully, evaluate all the information pertaining to your pregnancy, then work with you to give you the best opportunity for a healthy pregnancy and baby. It’s a collaborative, personal approach, between you, me and our entire team.
In his free time, Dr. Shah loves to play tennis, golf and travel. He is happily married with two grown children. His son is a physician and his daughter has a Master’s in Education Policy. Like their parents, both children want to make a difference in the lives of others.
