Meet Jeanette Saffir, CGC
“It was in my first biology class in college that I learned of genetic counseling — a profession that perfectly married two of my favorite topics: genetics and psychology. I knew it was the best possible career choice for me and I have never regretted my decision.
“Genetic counseling gives me the opportunity to personally interact with, and provide care for, my patients, establishing stronger relationships and allowing for a greater challenge — and reward.
“My job is to be the go-to support function for our patients, before, during and after treatment. I really enjoy being able to teach them about their genetics because it is a fundamental factor in what makes each of us who we are. Being a genetic counselor also allows me to be able to help others through the journey of their pregnancies. I really enjoy discussing medical terms and genetic testing with patients in ways that are meaningful — allowing them to make the appropriate decision for themselves, their families, and their pregnancies.
“I’m very proud of the standard of care and capabilities we provide our patients at the High Risk Pregnancy Center. Patient-first care means we do not influence your decision in any way. We provide you with the exam, testing, results and comprehensive, detailed information you need to make the best decision for you — and then to support you in that decision, in every way.”
