Meet Lauren Elisabeth Giacobbe, MD
My journey into medicine began with a degree in psychology. After college, I was doing research with Gulf War veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress syndrome and I became most interested in the impact of medical research on their lives. I knew I wanted to spend my career helping people move through difficult health situations. I decided then to become a doctor.
Being a maternal-fetal medicine subspecialist lets me combine my advanced training and expertise with compassion to help women and their families through high-risk pregnancies. I enjoy the relationships I can build with my patients over time and the support I can give because of new developments in medicine and technology. I especially appreciate the diagnostic aspects of ultrasound and the ability to confirm that a pregnancy is absolutely normal, or to detect medical risks early enough to manage them.
Having been diagnosed with a prenatal complication during my own pregnancy, I understand how frightening even a small finding can be. It’s helped me to be able to put myself in my patients’ situations and empathize even more. Because of my own experience, I am committed to giving you the time and support you need to understand and cope with whatever challenges you may have. I look forward to helping you have the most positive pregnancy experience possible and welcoming your new baby into the world.
Dr. Giacobbe joined the High Risk Pregnancy Center in August 2013, attracted by the friendliness of the doctors and staff and the great team environment of the practice. She moved with her husband and two young children from Minneapolis.
